We woke on Sunday eager to hit the streets and find out what this city was all about. The skies were blue and the air….muggy! But we come from Virginia so that’s nothing new.
We headed for the closest coffee shop for a little something to get us going!
We enjoyed a nice walk by the river. It is reminiscent of the Riverwalk in San Antonio, although bigger.
Max has mostly outgrown playgrounds, but he took advantage of this opportunity for a little climbing.
We continued on to take a look at Lake Michigan. This was a first visit for both of us and we were excited to see a “Great Lake” so we headed towards Navy Pier.
It was only about 10 but we had already walked about 2.5 miles and it was hot, so Max was happy to see and then feel the fountain by the Children’s Museum.
We weren’t particularly prepared for getting that wet, but sometimes you just have to go with it.
We wandered through the shops and food stands and made our way to the point to see the anchor.
We grabbed some food and made a plan for what was next. Max had dried out mostly but prudence sent us home to the hotel for a quick clothing change and regroup for the afternoon. We still had a lot we wanted to do! We had unlimited passes for the CTA so we hopped on a bus this time and took in a few sights.
We had been told Shedd Aquarium was a must see so we decided that would be our afternoon plan. It did not disappoint.
There was even a dolphin show! Although I only grabbed a pic while we waited.
We made our way back towards the hotel enjoying an ice cream treat - that we shared but couldn’t finish!
checking out an art show on the street…
and noting a little architecture….
and sports reference along the way
We ended the day with a late dinner at Sweetwater (we do not recommend the food, but the spot was nice - that’s our hotel across the street). We were tired and ready for bed but excited to see what we might find to do tomorrow!
Until then!!
Yay
Loved all the pictures of Max and the places you visited. Looks like you had alot of fun!
